Why do This? Many of us are attached to our phones. Many of us avoid calling people and instead choose to text. Try talking more with your companions. You may find that you are able to enhance your personal connection. It wasn’t too long ago when texting was not even an option.
Tips and tricks for Success:
- Let your friends, family, and co-workers know that you will not be checking your text.
What I have learned about not texting:
I love not texting. I have found that most texts really have no value, especially the long group text strings. The constant text alerts are distracting and take me away from being present. I have removed the audio alerts and mostly only check my texts if I am expecting an important message.
My son is now in middle school and recently got his first phone. He wanted a smart phone but we got him an old “flip phone” instead. Texting on a flip phone is extremely time consuming so he never texts. The result has been that he calls his friends and they call him to communicate. This has prevented him from wasting countless hours in group chats.
